Ghost 7 & Persistent Decompression Errors
I use Norton GHOST (7.0) all of the time. I have millions of copies since it comes (OEM) w/ every motherboard I assemble. I've backed up my own hard drive (at least my C partition) a number of times and was trying to do so today. In fact, I'm so comfortable w/ GHOST, I run it directly from the cmd-line, w/ all of the desired opts spec'd out on the cmd-line (No menus !) GHOST has been so reliable, I can make an image of a C drive from inside a DOS window and write it directly to a network share on my LAN.
Today, I boot from a floppy or a CD that has all of my system tools, then try to GHOST an image to one of the other partitions or the secondary hdrive of my system. Everytime the (partition dump) operation completes w/o error msgs, but the integrity check fails w/ multiple decompression errors.
I'm stumped. I've tested and re-tested my RAM. I surface-tested my primary hdrive w/ the mfr's diagnostic util. No errors. I'm going to try another version of GHOST, but other than that, I'm out of ideas.
I'm hoping I can reach a GHOST guru. Thought I was one, but then this happened. TIA. Later....Jet
