MP3 audio problems
I just upgraded my office workstation from NT4 SP6a to W2k SP4. It's a Dell GX150 with an Intel 82801BA/BAM AC '97 audio controller-2445.

I had a bunch of mp3 files that I played using winamp 272 full. Everything played OK on the NT system, but now on the W2k system, I have Alvin and the Chipmonks invading my audio.

Help! How do I get rid of Alvin?

Some added info. Microsoft Media Player 6.4 also plays the mp3s in an accelerated mode. I changed the Hardware acceleration mode to none, no change.

This might help. It seems to be a driver issue. Are you sure Winamp is not set to play using DirectSound? That might be the problem.

I did download an update driver from Microsoft, and the chipmonks disappeared.
