Can a scanner be networked?

I'm trying to figure out if I can add my HP scanner on my 2K machine to be available on another networked computer so that I can use it with my WinFax program.

I see nothing anywhere where I can add it.

Bill

I don't think you can add it as network hardware (like a printer), but why would you need that exactly? Just have it save scanned documents into a folder accessable by all computers in the network. I have my scanner setup like that and it works great. Just put a document in, hit scan, and it saves into a network folder.

Ordinarily I would but I have to fill in an application (insisting on typed BTW) and WinFax allows me to annotate the scanned document and add text.

The only networkable scanners I've seen are sold as Networked Scanners. As an example, the HP Digital Sender.

The HP6350 comes with remote scanning software - host and client utilities on the CD.

You might be better off using a networked version of Winfax to use the scanner locally on a remote computer.
