NV40 or R420?
Who is gonna have the best this time around? I'm guessing that nVidia, like the slow giant it is, will have the better part. they got caught off guard by the Radeons initially, but they should have it down this time. Then again, if both cards run neck-to-neck and nVidia is still using that stinking big fan, I'll go with the Radeon.

anyone have an estimate on when these cards will be realeased i dont want to spend more than around 80 on my new vid card and i'm hoping to get a 9600 or mabey a pro in a few months if the prices are lower

cant say for certain. it isnt fair for any of the companies to base opinions based on bias and preliminary numbers.
who do i want to see rank highest with the next gen videocards? either.

Headband: The new cards are comin out sometime this spring, so that should drop the bottom out of the prices on those 9600s.

I think now that ATI knows what it feels like to be on top, they're not going to let nVidia have the better product very easily... I'm going with ATI overall, with nVidia having the edge in OpenGL.

will the new cards be using the new serial PCI bus? I heard from sources that it will be the equivilent of AGP 16x. I also heard the new cores of the Radeon cards will have transistors numberoring around the 200 million mark.
But then they're just stories, very interesting though.

I like ATI. There was so much hype around the nVidia NV30 core and then it proved not to be so great, plus having that GREAT BIG heat sink on it.
But, i am not too concerned with the NV40 or R420. I am just looking foreward to the 9800XT price dropping below $200 when the R420 comes out. |

I'm going with ATI on this one. I'm also fairly impressed that they seem to have drivers (albeit proprietary) for Linux. I always thought nVidia had that one cornered.

| Both companies will release cards in both AGP and PCI-EG flavors. Really, its unneeded. The best card have yet to come close to breaking the AGP 8x cealing. The cores from both companies should be around 160 million transistors.
