What the?? USB.exe error on start up.

ECS K7S7AG mobo
SiS 746 FX chipset
Athlon 2600+ rev. #2 333 FSB
Cheapo 'K-Byte' DDR 2700 @ 166X 2
Maxtor 40 GB ATA 133 7200 RPM
Windows XP ( early version some MS patches installed, but not SP1).

Problem: at boot-up I have continually been getting this message:

SiSUSBrg.exe -"Unable to locate component." Then below that a big red dot with a white 'X' inscribed on it then: "This application has failed to start because SiS_lib.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this.
What application? My USB ports work fine, and there is no problems in either the 'Device Manager' or in 'System Information'
Anybody have any ideas?

not really sure, but from looking it up real fast, looks like SiSUSBrg.exe might be a sound card driver

Thanks for the help. I think you're right. I had a SB Audigy in this machine and relpace it with a sound card that did not work well with Win XP. However, there were some people who worked on it and fixed the driver issues though patches. It's an Aureal Vortex 2 with digital out-put.
It was after the install of the sound card that the problem showed itself. I'll work on it and see if that's what it was..
Thanks again wallie_x
