Wanna try different versions of Linux let me know what you think?

I've used Mandrake, Redhat, and Knoppix. I was thinking of trying Suse out how difficult is it to install? I like Redhat and Mandrake because its a basic GUI Install...Is Suse like that?

Suse is a gui install but very basic. its debian based so RPMs will need to be converted if you want anything rpm based installed. The devel packages are the most stable IMO.

Umm, SUSE is RPM based.

That's a bit of a contradiction isn't it?

From all accounts, SuSe is a great distro, I haven't tried it myself so can't comment from experience, but YaST is supposed to be one of the greatest Linux configuration systems going.
For SUSE you can't just download an ISO though, you either buy a box set, or do an FTP install (I'd do this if you have the bandwidth, you'll get the most current packages, and only the ones you elect to install)
For the FTP install, crouse wrote a howto here:

Yep SuSe is RPM based, and YAST it's just awesome it really shows that they have put allot of work into it. As for SuSe install IMHO it's extremely user friendly and probably the best newbie installation distro out there. But then again all distro's are a matter of taste, just find the one you like the most and stick with it. If your looking for a complete custom install then you should give a distro like gentoo a try since everything is compiled and optimized for your hardware setup. In other words just stick to the distro you like the most and feel most confortable with .

SuSE is a sweet distro! It looks amazing and the features like YAST and YOU are killer! It is one of the easiest installs I can imagine doing! It is my favorite distro!
