I installed Mandrake 8.1 and it works. Out of the box, well off of the CDs I mean. The only thing I had to do was install Truetype fonts, and that was simple enough using Drakfont.
I understand your point of view, but I don't fully agree with it. I think your comment is a little too blase; you make too many blanket statements. I haven't followed your history that you implied in an earlier post, but after this post I have no desire to.
So if something doesn't install right on your PC, then it needs improving? Sorry, this world doesn't revolve around you. I started out knowing nothing about Linux, but since that day I have tried Redmond Linux, Redhat, Mandrake, Slackware and Debian. I can happily install and run a Mandrake 8.1 from everything that I've learned.
