Kids Please help... Exposing pc under router

Hi...

Please help me...

I am using an Netcomm router here...
And I have been trying to establish a sever to show my friend the website I have done...

I have a static WAN ip address....
And I have try to enable my DMZ host to this pc's IP address...192.168.1.4

It works ok when I try to browse it with my IE on this server by typing http://192.168.1.4/my IIS files folder/default.aspx

But it doesn't show up on my friends computer by typing the same address...

and I tried to forward the port 80 as well...
Am I right? and what is the correct address my friends should type to viewing the asp.net pages stored under my IIS localsever...

Can some experts please help me out?

Thank you very much...

192.168.x.x is an internal IP that is worthless to the real world

www.whatismyip.com

Go to that website, it will display your REAL IP that the rest of the world sees.

Then use that instead of the 192.168.x.x IP

Thank you...

It works... and... do I still have to enable the DMZ and port forwarding?

And what do that do?

I am a abit confused...

In my understanding, DMZ is to put the specific pc outside of the firewalll and expose it to public network.

And port forwarding is to enable the port on your router, so specific ports protected by default can be used.

Am I correct? Please comment on it...

DMZ opens all ports. In order to run a web server, you should be able to open just port 80 and forward it to the correct internal IP. The forwarding simply tells the router which computer is running the server.
