need to disable admin password in dell cp laptop

hello i buy and sell laptops on ebay,i recently received one that in the bios you find admin password enabled! This is the first time i had ever encountered this.I know hw to remove the cmos battery i know to let it sit unplugged the replug the cmos back in.However this didnt work it set my time and date back to the year 2000 but didnt release the admin password! This is not the windows xp password it is stored somewhere in the laptop and not even in the bios chip!I removed the bios chip and put a different one in and had a different version bios but the admin was still enabled!!!!I have the motherboard sitting in front of me im almost sure there are a couple of contacts to short out????There are no jumpers as some would think!
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED,IF YOU HAVE EVER CALLED DELL YOU UNDERSTAND WHY IM DOING THIS WITHOUT THEM!THAT AND WHO THE HECK KNOWS WHO THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS????
THIS ADMIN PASWORD DOESNT KEEP ME OUT OF THE LAPTOPS OPERATING SYSTEM AS WHICH I HAVE INSTALLED A NEW XP VERSION,IT ONLY KEEPS ME FROM MAKING CHANGES TO THE SETUP OF THE BIOS...LIKE WHICH IS THE FIRST BOOTABLE DEVICE ETC?
THANKS AGAIN
ALLSMILES

dell latitude cp and the bios doesnt make any differnce you can flash it to any right now its at a12 i think!Even though you can flash it your admin password still keeps you from changing any settings in the bios!

oooooh kay. The reason I ask is that there are backdoor passwords for each BIOS manufacturer. A bright individual such as yourself can probably find one.

i was hoping someone had encountered the actual problem i have, many bios passwords keep you from entering the bios at all this password i think is put in by dell at the time of manufature! Its my understanding the only way to crack it is to create a short in the 24c02 chip you short pins 3 and 6 when you power on!Then this feature is permanently overridden! The problem is the chip is below the procesor so you have to solder two very small wires and bring them outside the laptop then put the processsor back in reassemble short the two wires and power on!PRESTO NO MORE BIOS PROTECTED ADMIN PASSWORD.......I WAS HOPING THERE WOULD BE A EASIER WAY.I have all the internet passwords but none work!AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR NOTICING YES I AM A VERY BRIGHT INDIVIDUAL!
thanks again

A bright individual indeed proven by the fact that you would go though all that soldering and replacing components rather than getting the service tag number and waiying for 15 minutes to speak to Dell Support.

Cheers.

I am a Dell reseller and work very closely with them. My advice to you is that maybe you should become a premier support member. This will allow you to cut through most of the BS.

Good luck.

Did you have any luck with this? I've recently purchased a Dell Latitude and am now faced with exactly the same problem!

(Nice banter by you had by the way)

The only way was to find the eprom chip and short the correct two legs together at the time of power up!
This worked great by the way!Im pretty good getting in and out of laptops the whole process probably took 30 minutes! It was nice knowing i was able to beat Dells security system!
If you need more help email me direct at
