Epox 8KRA2+ Temp warning

Right, When I built this computer, I set the "CPU Warning Temperatue" in the BIOS to 50 (the lowest it would go) and the shutdown temp to 60 (the lowest it would go)
The system is overclocked and I crunch FaD all day.
Looking at the temp reading in GKrellm, it sometimes goes above 50. (sometimes up to 53c) I put it down to having the algorithm wrong, assuming that the temp alarm would go off if the core actually did go over 50c
However this was bugging me, so I hit the reset button to see what temp shows on the post screen, and there it was - 53c.
I checked in the BIOS setup and sure enough the alarm temp was set.
Have they changed the idea of these things? In my day, when the temp alarm went off, it would sound a BEE BOO BEE BOO sort of siren. Anyone else got this board?
System specs:
Athlon XP 1700 tbred @ 2.08ghz (166*12.5) 1.7v
Epox 8KRA2+ (kt600)
ATI Radeon 32mb SDR
SB Live 1024
Coolermaster X-Dream
2 exhaust fans at back, 1 intake at front.
gentoo Linux
