Systems Can't set a restore point

Now that my computer seems to be running not too bad I would like to create a restore point in case I have any future problems. By the way, my OS is Windows Me. I go into System Restore and click on Create a Restore Point. Then I put in a description like it asks. It always comes up: System Restore is not able to create a restore point. Please restart and run system restore again. When I restart I get the same message. Anyone out there know what I can do? Thanks!

Do you have enough space on the target drive?

I don't know what you mean by the target drive. Please explain.

Sorry, by target drive I mean the drive you have System Restore set to. Simplified - to you have enough free space on your C: drive?

I have all kinds of space on my C Drive and System Restore is not disabled. Anything else for me to try? Thanks everyone.

When I checked my C Drive it says I have 23.0 GB free and my D Drive is 1.27 GB free. Is that enough space to do system restore?

Yeah it should, the more space you have the more restore points you can create. But I think it's time for a reinstall of Windows as I can't find anything through Google and my usual places about this error.
