802.11b+ uses Packet Binary Convolution Coding, a different modulation than standard CCK on regular 802.11b gear. It will double your throughput, or get close to it. If getting 8 or 9 Mb instead of 4 to 5 is worth the price, then go for it. You just have to understand you'll have to use b+ cards to get that added bandwidth. Frankly with the price of .11g stuff these days, anything else seems a bit strange. You can get .11g AP's, that use Texas Instrument chipsets, that will do 22 Mbps signalling using PBCC.
