another cryptic pile of errors

Application exception occurred:
App: svchost.exe (pid=440)
When: 1/26/2004 @ 17:07:56.434
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Application exception occurred:
App: svchost.exe (pid=448)
When: 1/26/2004 @ 15:34:21.349
Exception number: c0000096 (privileged instruction)

what does this mean? how do I fix it? I fixed my windows 2000 install, as some files got corrupted. now, svchost practically crashes every 5 minutes with these stupid errors.

I put service pack 4 on, and that only partially fixed it. still crashes.

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 800706BA from line 42 of .\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

This error shows up in the event log alot. Mostly, the letter "A" seems to change to either "A" or "F" each time.

I'm trying Service pack 2, to see if this fixes anything, but if it doesn't, then what do I do?
