OCing an Athlon Xp 2100+

Ok, im going to try to overclock my 2100+ system.

Here are the specs:
Athlon XP 2100+
Volcano 7+ Fan w/ copper heatsink
Asus A7N8X mobo (nForce II)
Antec 400 watt PSU
1 80 mm fan in back of case
1 80 mm fan on side
Twin 40 mm fans in front

is this good enough to OC with?

Thanks

should be...do you have a software program to overclock or are you planning to use the bios... if you use the bios to overclock, try bumping up your FSB a notch or two at a time, leave your multiplier as is and see how it reboots...

On my K7N2 Delta L nForce II 400 edition MSI board, I run a athlon xp 2500 (1826 mghz)

using my bios I took my FSB,from stock 166 to 200 left multiplier alone which it now is 200 FSBX11multiplier= 2200 mghz or athlon xp 3200 without changing anything else. I left voltage alone etc.

Don't know if this helps, you might have a different setup, not sure of 2100 athlons

good luck

it is 266, I use DDR 2700 which is 333, you might want to consider uping the mem...how much mem do you have...

(256, 512 , 1gig) ?? is it running dual channel etc.?

You mean pc 2700. Or ddr333. THe pc rating is the amx available bandwidth (whichyou wont get really!) and the DDR spec is the mhz of mem Duel data rate applied. So its 166mhzx2 (ddr) 333. So they simply say ddr333. Just thought Id add that.

Well if your RAM can take the overclock, your cooling is adequete, and your XP2100+ is a T-Bred B core then you have a very good chance of being able to get the fsb up to 166(333). If it doesn't work then try new PC2700 RAM.

if that chip is a tbred, youll be pleasently suprised. If its the old palomino you wont get much out of it. Goodluck, most 2100 tbred could do the 166*13 easily
