Frustrating NFS problem
We have a directory structure shared on a SCO Unix server as /u/. Using a Linux system we used NFS and connected to /u as /nfsmount. We have some images on the server drive in a folder named images that should be pulled through the network and used on the Linux machine(s) as screensaver images. We are able to copy images effortlessly from the Linux system onto the Unix server (copying the images into /nfsmount/images) but when we attempt to pull the images going the other way it locks. We experimented using another SCO box set up with an NFS mount pointing to the directory and it will copy part of an image (doesn't matter which we try)and then lock. This is getting to be extremely frustrating as we need to be able to house the image files on the server so multiple clients get the same image information and we have only one location to update the files.
Can anyone suggest things to look at to resolve this? Or does anyone have an alternative method that they suggest we look into? Thank you ahead of time.
