ERROR:OE: 018F: BFF8E64B and nobody knows.........

What the heck this is about?????? I've Googled it and everybody knows about it, but nobody comes up with a solution.

I've posted it on the MS newsgroups at MS.com but nobody has an answer there either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

(This is for a buddy using WinME on an AMD XP2000+ I built for him and as best I can tell it appears to happen when he's online and using MS Office. Sometimes it happens & sometimes it doesn't.) TIA!!

Send a message via AIM to nukes Send a message via Yahoo to nukes
How is the error popping up? BSOD, Error box?
What does it say caused the error? (i.e. user.exe caused etc)
Got any Symantec software running (norton etc)
What's running in the background?
Have you got all the windows+office updates?
Running latest drivers?

Nukes,

Thanks for the reply

"EXPLORER HAS CAUSED AN INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE USER.EXE AT 0003:00009268"

Is what he's telling me he sees. He uses AOL and runs Norton AV 2004 in the background. All AV updates are there, but he's not sure about the Windows updates. I asked him to bring it down here to work so I can verify updates and download them quickly via that work network, but he has yet to bring it down. Office is about the only reference to this error that seems even remotely common on Google which is why I mentioned it. MS newsgroups know nothing. Also, this problem only seems to have popped up recently which is why I'm puzzled. I feel bad too, 'cuz otherwise this sucker is a cookin' system & he's very happy.

Thanks again!!

Nukes,

I'll tell him to try that first. Just curious........any reasoning behind targeting Norton??

(I figure, he could still use Norton if he's going to download specifically, he can always filter it thru Norton first, then shut it back off again when he's done.)

Thanks again!!
