Kids Bios Flashing GF 5900XT..Possible?

Hi Guys/Gals

I heard rumours that you can flash the bios of FX cards to make them faster/think they are a better card? Is this possible? I am getting a AOpen Gforce FX 5900XT later today and wondered whether I can overclock it a bit..... I know you can you use CoolBits to increase the memory and GPU clock... what would flashing the BIOS achieve?

Any help welcome...

Kirk

Dumb question: What's a 5900XT?

I thought ATi used 'XT' and NVidia used the 'Ultra' moniker.

Sorry if that sounded off-topic.

It's there new cut down 5900 model... slower memory and core GPU speed...

Same price as a 5700U but faster it seems (being 256 Bit and have 8 pipelines.. or is it 4? Anyway twice as many as the 5700U....

BAH! ATi's name scheme was bad enough. Now that NVidia's using some of the ATi nomenclature it's only going to get worse!

Thanks for the info. Sorry I can't be of any help to you though.
