Kids Alienware's 51m Laptop?

Hi-

I just recently placed an order for an alienware 51m laptop, and AFTER I placed the order, I decided to go here and check out what other people have said about alienware. Nothing really bad, some were complaining about shipping and it's production time (i'm patient), and a few people were complaining about other minor defects upon receiving their 51m lapop (i.e. screen showing lines, screen showing problems when playing games, etc. etc.) What do you guys think about Alienware's 51m laptop????? anyone?

I haven't heard of any of those problems personally, but anything bad regarding the 51m has to do with the (lack of) battery life and the heat output. Also, I believe the fan on those bad boys run constantly, even when the power is turned off.

These types of notebooks are not meant for road warriors - it's meant for people that have an LCD, a mini-tower case, and folding keyboards and still don't like the bulkiness. Hell I'd take one, the 3.2Ghz P4's and even the 3Ghz's are faster than my 3200+/nForce2, and Alienware even can upgrade the graphics and just about everything else for the cost of the parts, no more.

Have fun with your new toy!
P.S: Can I trade my 700 PIII/128MB RAM Gateway for that?

From what I have read its the same as what Artic fox said. Battery life is short but on the newer modles I think it is getting a little better. I also read that you really dont want to put this thing on your lap without a protective tray or something cause it will probably burn you and it will cause the laptop to overheat. Its a nice laptop though thats great to take to LAN parties and I would consider it to be a true desktop replacement if you were to tack on some more storage via a Highspeed USB2.0 Drive or Firewire Drive. Nice laptop and I think you will be happy with what you bought

Arctic Fox - Phenious:

Sup bro. Yeah, I agree, I've heard some things about the battery life of this particular laptop, but I guess anybody would've assumed that since it's pushing so much power!!! I'm so hella anxious to get it. I also love the fact that I can upgrade anything, whether it's the graphic card or even the processor, I know I have the option to upgrade, and that's just LOVELY.....

oh yeah, one more thing...........as far as that trade offer, I'm actually thinking about it <------that was a joke.....hehe....

I'll let you know how it is when I get it. God Bless.
