Hey guys, I was just wondering if there are any other good spyware remover programs. I have adaware and spybot, but I'm still getting pop ups when i search (and at other sites that don't have pop ups) and I can't seem to get whatever is on my system out.

Thanks, appreciate it!

no, they're not windows messenger pop ups; they're just annoying pop ups that are usually related to what kind of site i'm browsing. Additionally, if I google something, I get another pop up with some random search engine's results. And to top it off, it usually tries to reset my homepage to some obscure search engine whenever I launch IE.

Check out http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html for a proggie called SpywareBlaster.

If you are running WinXP, you might like this program, but please read up on it first- http://www.xpantispy.org/ . Click on whichever flag is your lang preference. Be sure to read the homepage about the 'fake' versions out there. (simplifies many reg hacks for XP, also should eliminate that PopUp issue- that is service related)

Lastly, effective free popup blocker http://www.panicware.com/process_dow...ml?prdid=PSPRO and http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...id,8060,00.asp .

Goodluck!

Have you turned on spybot's immunize feature? That alone cut down the number of pop-ups I was getting by 75%. That combined with Shifters link the rest down by over half. Another thing to think about is using a hosts file. Beemer (another member here) has agood one and instructions on how to use it on his site.
I doubt that it is possible to completely stop them all but you sure can stop most of them.!

What concerns me is tha the pop ups are not directly related to the site i'm visiting, but rather they occur all hte time when surfing sites that don't have pop ups. And the resetting of my homepage is annoying too :-p

Try running Hijackthis.
Its a great program to get rid of IE spyware. Just be carefully on what you delete and what you keep.

Your right they aren't coming from the pages that you are seeing. Thats typical of both hijack programs and the windows messenger exploit. It sets you up for all the other pop-up.
