major computer problems

today when i went to open up paint it wouldn't work so i restarted and it still won't work. disk defragmentation and maintence also won't work. i'm considering getting norton system works...will it help me any?

what version of windows?

you need to replace the mspaint.exe file.

with w98se you run sfc and replace the file

with others you run msconfig and there is a button to restore files

Could you be a little more specific about the problem? You say "it wouldn't work" .. but how so? Did anything happen? Did you get an error message?
