no post

hi everyone i just finished a new comp. a problem i'm having is when i try to boot it just goes to the xp boot screen i get no post beeps or screen

intel 865 perlk m/b
corsair p-3200x2=512
radeon9600pro also it does boot to xp but if i leave it idle for 10/12 min. it shuts down i have to push reset and it boots to xp again i have tried all the power settings w/ no luck thanks for any input merv ps i also upgaded the bios to p12 as per intel website sorry for the long post but i'm stuck

sorry if i sound stupid...its because i am....have u got the newest firmware and everything, and have u tried reinstalling windows?

Remove the board from the case, place it on a soft, non-conductive surface near the case and plug in the ATX power. Leave in the CPU and RAM. Place the vid card in and connect the monitor. Connect the power. Nothing else needs to be connected. Press down hard on the vid card and use your screwdriver to short the POWER BUTTON pins. See if it POSTs.
