nork is on a distinguished road
probs with mobo

I have 2 mobos the same.
I got them both up and running, one came with a 40 gig hard drive, all formatted and progs installed etc, right from IBM.
the other one, i dont have the hard drive for.

The one with the hard drive, i tested to make sure it was all working fine, then i put it in a case and thats when i started with the problems. I must point out that i started it up and it started up and the windows screen appeared briefly then a blank screen. I turned it off and checked out my cables. Sure enough, i found that i hadnt installed the 12volt connector, because the last mobo i was working on was an amd, darn!

So i can only think that the prob is because i didnt plug in the 12 volt connection,
Now, i can get the computer to boot up if i go into the bios. I dont have to make any changes, i just have to hit the key and go into the bios, then leave and it boots up fine into windows.
There are no probs showing in dev mgr but i did do a boot record check and it shows that the following did not load:

Did not load drivers:
system boot\system32\drivers\ndproxy.sys
lbrtfdc.sys
sfloppy.sys
cdrom\sys
changer.sys
cdaudio.sys
pci dump.sys
redbook.sys
imapi.sys
afd.sys
rdbss.sys
mrxsmb.sys

I may be out a letter or so in the above list.

Now,if i dont go into bios when i boot, then the monitor screen green light comes on, the screen that normally comes up first with the ram, cpu, bios info doesnt show up, the winxp boot screen comes up very briefly, then a blank screen with the green llight still on, the mobo light comes on, and i can hear the hard drive, but nothing on the monitor and it wont boot to windows xp pro.

I can get it to boot to win xp pro if i turn it off, remove the power cord from the power supply, wait a minute, plug it back in and turn on the computer and then hit the bios button. I go to the bios and leave, dont save anthing and then it will boot to win xp pro, but that is the only way it will boot to xp.

I did use my win 98se floppy and do the fdisk/mbr trick. I dont know if i have caused more harm than good since i realized after that the hard drive is likely formatted via NTFS and not fat32, and i dont know if that matters.

Now, if i take that same hard drive and put in on the other mobo i have, which is identical to this one, it will boot and all is fine.

Also, i re-set the cmos, and after setting the time and other settings back to where they should be, the prog still exists.

Since the files that wont load are common to win xp pro os, i tried re-installing xp pro but i need the admin password and i dont know where to find the password so i cant fix the os.

Appreciate any help i can get.
thanks
