memory not read

I have a weird problem: "Instruction at _______ could not be read...".

That kind of alert message box comes up - just as my computer is on the "Windows is shutting down" screen. It's happened a few times now, and it locks the computer up just there. The message box title has "navapsvr.exe" on it.

Sometimes my computer locks up on the shut down screen even if that message does not come up.

My system:

Windows XP Home Service Pack 1
Sony VAIO 816S
CPU: 2.8Ghz
RAM: 512MB

navapsvr.exe...sounds like you're running norton antivirus and it's throwing an error on shutdown. You might check norton's website to see if there are any known shutdown issues with your version...
