Systems Am I Getting Hacked

Straight to the point, for the past week or so my PC has froze no matter what I am doing at the time then crashes and where the green LCD is supposed to flash it has turned into a red LCD, then I need to wait a couple off minutes to boot it back up, there is nothing in the event veiwer, no error message nothing
My specs are,
WinXP Home,
AMD Athlon 1.8 Ghz
40Gb HD
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420
256Mb Ram
please help, it might be something else but this is what I think it is,

well first of what LCD are you talking about?
Second when did this start to happen, right after the OS install, after some time of usage?
Have you run anti spyware software, and anti virus software?

Sounds like it might be heat related.

Try running it with the side of the case off and see if that helps.

When was the last time you gave it a good cleaning with some compressed air?

@ MrPurple the LCD for the HD Activity,2. about a week ago.3.Pestcontrol and no not yet.

@ korgul cleaned it last week,

Now that ur going on about long time usage & Heat, my PC has been on for a couple of days, could this be a cut off coz something is overheating, and what could remidy this apart from turning it off =)

Try running it for ahwile with the side off of the case just to see. If it runs fine you can then add case fans to help circulate the air.

Have you done the patches for the MS blaster virus? I have had to clean a few off of PC's. The users were having the same issues that you are.

How about adaware, have you installed and run that with the newest def file?

Do you have anti-virus software loaded?

@ korgul yes I've done the MS blaster patches ran pestcontrol newest updates, and yes I have anti-virus running, I am leaning more towards the over heating, sides off, no problems, looks like more fans are needed, thx for ur response, =)
