Remote Control & Modem IRQ problems

Hi
My cheap Packard Bell remote control works fine until I start using my modem and then it only responds occassionally.

I think the problem is IRQ or I/O-Range related. My remote control is on COM2 using IRQ 5 and I/O Range 02E8 -02eF and my modem is on COM4 using IRQ 16 and I/O Range c000-c007.

I've tried adjusting the remote control IRQ and I/O Ranges manually but it hasnt worked. I know I've had this problem back in the old days with my serial mouse and modem, but I don't seem to remember how to fix it.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks
D.

Nothing wrong here - the modem obviously is a PCI device, leave that one alone by all means. As for your remote control, is that on an actual COM port on the machine? If yes, check with your system BIOS whether it's properly enabled, and then delete the COM port Windows driver to have it redetected properly next time you boot.
