extremely slow

ok, for no reason whatsoever my computer decided that it wanted to pretend it is a comadore 64 running windows xp...
its goes extremely slow, folders wont open, right clicking does nothing. it took me 5 reboots and a lot of luck and time to be able to get to this website. also, i noticed that sometimes ccpxysvc.exe (for norton) will be taking 99% (or close to it) of my cpu.

i tried spybot, adaware, norton av (all updated) didnt work

i havent downloaded anything lately.

running win xp 512mb noname ram, 80 and 120 gig hdds, amd xp 1800+

anything else to check besides adware and virii?

Definitely check out msconfig, see what's all loading up with Windows!
Also, have a look at this Win XP Services Configuration.

You might try cleaning your registry and checking msconfig>startup to see what's loading at startup.
Is your system lagging after your icons come up and taskbar starts working? If it's just a boot problem, BootVis might shed some light on what's going on...

*Edit*sorry martoch-was still writing when you posted

well i found what i think is the main culprit...
wcescomm.log. last night it was 7.some gigs of text. this morning back up to 4.some gigs. apperantly its a log file for my pocket pc connection. i cant find a way to stop it, and i cant find anyone else with this problem. my pocket pc also cant sync. it says missing aflashman and cflashman. i think it started when my pocket pc completely died and i lost everything. so i decided to update the bios since that would allow me to IR transfer with my dad's and brother's palms.

i upgraded to 1.11 and it was missing those files. im gonna try to find my original cd and see if i can change it back to the original 1.10
