Outdoors Windows XP install

Okay, I have a dual processor PIII550 with 512 megs of ram. I boot from the XP pro cd and it does it driver load thing and then it stops on starting windows setup....just sits tehre forever. I can't figure out what the problem is. Windows ME installs fine. I've thought of two things so far.
1) Windows ME doesn't recognize more than one processor so could there be a problem with having duals with XP trying to see them?
2)I do not have any ISA cards but the board does have 2 isa slots.....since XP doesn't like those could that be causeing a problem? I would think it would just disregaurd them, but I don't really know....
HELP!!!!!
I want to make use of these processors....

some thoughts.....

Windows XP PRO does support dual processors

Have you checked to make sure you CD is not damaged (i.e. scratched etc)...

What motherboard and bios are you using? You may want to check your motherboard to make sure its up to date on its BIOS so Windows XP can support its hardware properly.

It's definitely not a prob with the ISA slots. I've loaded XP on PC's with up to 4 of them with no probs.
