Encoding Video?

So, I'm playing with burning DVD's now. I'm wondering if a faster processor would help me when it comes to the encoding video step in the process. When the programs say that they're encoding, I check my performance tab of the task manager window and it tells me that my CPU Usage is 100%. I've got an Athlon XP 2600+ (333fsb). Would moving up to a faster proc help speed up this process? Would it make enough difference to warrent spending the money on a new proc?

Faster procs will help speed up the encoding time. From a XP2600, your next big step would be to go to Athlon64. Either that or a high end P4 hyperthreaded, they work wonders at encoding.

You could overclock to like a 3333.3+. Thats what I have now. Get a kick ass fan(thermaltake volcano 11+) loud but it cools like no other.

SSE2 and SSE and MMX actually compromisess final encoding Quality. Seriously, thats what the readme that comes with encoders is for. Best Q you can get still comes from UNoptimised RAW fpu mode. It dont take short cuts and ergo doesnt make so may mistakes.
