XP Home to Pro Conv

I am about to attempt to convert a pc to XP Pro from Home and need to know if it is capable of doing an upgrade to Pro or if I have to reformat the entire system. I do realize that it would be better to do a fresh install, however, I have programs that I cannot replace right now.
I started this venture because I have a network setup with 3 computers running Pro and one on Home. The "Home" computer will not share printers like the other three... It just doesn't see them.
Any Ideas on either item would be great help!

Yes, you can upgrade Home to Pro

Will it have any issues with Registry or having to reinstall any programs?

There shouldn't be any problems with that. According to MS:

During an upgrade, the Windows XP Setup Wizard replaces existing Windows files but preserves your existing settings and applications.
