What's A Dvd Decoder? I need one!

Hi,

i have found that i need a decoder to run dvds in windows media player and i think this might be causing some of the problems with interactual player! Does any one know where i can get a decoder from?

Thanks

I thought interactual player was a decoder?!? But then I don't use Windows Media Player to view DVD's.

WMP doesn't have a DVD decoder built in I don't think. Most DVD players like Intervideos WinDVD and PowerDVD have software DVD decoders. These work well on newer computers.

As for older computers you'll probably need a hardware decoder code in order to get a good clear, clean picture / sound.

If you have a DVD-ROM player all you need is a software DVD player. The software will decode the DVD content. However you could go for a hardware decoder if you wish.

If you have a PII processor or better you don't need a hardware decoder. All you need is a software decoder/player, you shouldn't play your DVD's with Media Player.

I had the same prob. when I got a dvd drive for free without any software.

I searched the internet & found a great player for free from www.7thzone.com but the link doesn't seem to work any longer.

Some vid cards ship with a DVD player so check the cd that came with your vid card there might be one on it.

If not I could try to e-mail you the exe for the player that have just let me know.

As I mentioned before this full version DVD player is free:
http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml

Its the only free one I found. As for myself I use PowerDVD which was shipped with my DVD player.

If you end up needing a decoder card, I have one...It's made by "IMPACT" and comes with a cd-rom. LMK.
