what would I need? wireless

Ok here's the deal... my office has a server sharing internet fromthe server room (which is way in the back of the building). My boss just got a new laptop with wireless capabilities but we have no wireless hardware anywhere in our office.

What exactly would I need for the laptop to be able to be connected? an access point, a router? I want to be able to place this device in the main ofice (no in the back server room, because I am concerned about the reliability of an access point being in a closet with many walls inbetween it and the laptop).

So I'm thinking maybe just an access point in the middle of the office? Linksys?

thanks for your help!

also another question if you don't mind...

my boss has a Kyocera 7135 smartphone, and I have found an SD bluetooth card that transmits data. He also has wireless internet access through verizon wireless with the phone. so i was wondering if it was possible to buy the an SD Bluetooth card for the phone (http://hardwarecentral.dealtime.com/...om_P10832EFIG2) and use it as a modem, conectin it to the new laptop which is bluetooth enabled. If you already have a router (very likely)..then you just need an access point. At least I think so....seems the access point would just plug into the router.
