In need of some help with my IP.
I am running win. 98, I need to know how to change my IP address, I am unsure wether I have a static IP or not...I don't think so though.

You can't change it. You GET your IP from your ISP. The only time it would change is if you've got a Dynamic IP at which case, it would change ever so often. If you've got a Static IP, you would have to request from your ISP they change it, which I doubt they would do w/o a very good reason.
If you're talking about some sort of anonymizer . . .

Welcome to techimo
If you mean your IP assigned by your ISP, simply disconnect from the internet and reconnect. If you are on broadband, unplug your modem and plug it back in. If you continue to get the same IP, call your ISP and ask for a change. Best of luck |

Well if you are on a modem you get a new IP every time you connect.

Why do you want a new IP? Or rather, why do you feel the need for a new IP?
Are you on broadband?

Why do you need to change it? Getting hacked or something? Maybe what you need is a good firewall, or intrusion detection.
If you give your ISP a good reason for changing the IP, I'm sure they will. Who is the ISP?
Cheers
Mick

COX is the ISP, They said they won't change it no matter what...only way is to close my account and reopen a new one. No, it's not hackers or anything like that...well, it could esculate into that, just dealing with people I no longer trust.
