Networking Assignments : Need Help

I'm working (doing assignments) on Networking about cabling system.

Where can I find a good detail of it? I mean on the web or you could also add some details here too

I've been surfing for long hours on Horizontal and Vertical cabling system. Still I couldn't find detail explaination of it. Anybody know where can I find it?

And if theres any, I'd like to know "Steps required to setup/install networking cable" on webs. The assignment is in English and I can make my own though but may not as detail as any web available.

Thanks in advance.

Hey,
In order to provide you with any information, i need to know what you mean by horizontal and vertical cabling. I can give yo uthe lengths of all types of cabling but you need to let me know which kinds yo uare reporting on.
Since you are doing installing network cabling, you can find helpful tutorials online about this. Just go to google, Cisco should have something. If not, i am more than able to help you on that also so just shout me a holla in this post and ill get back to ya bud.

Cheers,
Dan

if your looking for a manual, you can go to BICSI.COM , they have many good books on the subject.
I have found that the majority of the general practices is also baised on the standard electrical code of you country, the main thing to learn is the color codeing of the demark terminals.

I am a jurneymen electrician and also studying the manual for certification in the field of telecomminucations cableing.

You guys have been really helpful Thank you.

AussieDan:

The title of my assignment is called "Networking: Tools and cabling system". There are 4 cabling system that I have to explain - horizontal, vertical, backbone and crosstalk. The backbone and crosstalk is quite common, much easier for me make out the detail of it.

I have also burrowed books from the library but they don't really mention so much about horizontal and vertical. Anyways I'll do surf on you guys mentioned on top.

I will also look at the tutorials at Cisco you mention. Maximum pages required is at 10 - 15. So of course, I need much detail stuff to fill in the blank paper so that it'll look thick

The best place I found info was in the N+ book by Mike Myers.

Maybe sites by places that sell cable would have some info

I'm at Lastar.net now, this moment, saving pictures for the assignment.

It has pictures with some descriptions. I can elaborate on that. I'm on the looking for the setup/install tutorials then.
