Heroes of Might and Magic 5 news
I think for some of us already heard about the Heroes 5 will coming out soon. When will it?
Here's a few screenshot and it couldn't have been fake http://mm-world.gamesurf.tiscali.de/.../Screens.shtml
Said that its going to be 3D, like its previous chapter of the game. Yet, this Heroes 5, what makes me so excited about it that its going to be like an light colored anime. Very wonderful textures.
For reference, click here for the news: http://www.gaming-nation.com/articles.php?articleId=2
Always addicted playing this game But my fav.s was Heroes 3, then 4, 2 and 1.

Me too Its much better than Warcraft 3. Very addicting. Its a very simple game but I find it very interesting.
Theres this one russian websites that I have looked at, a forum, saying that it was schedule on December 2003. It's hard to believe it whether it is really true. I also saw a news somewhere around the internet just now, saying that the release date is somewhere March 2004.
I'm not sure whether that was just a rumour. I say, I dont think so

Whoa...I wouldn't say it's "better than Warcraft 3". I've played both (Heroes of Might and Magic 2 first, then 3, then Armageddon's Blade, skipped Shadow of Death, then borrowed 4 from a friend) and found both to be equally entertaining.
The one thing I do like more is the !huge! variety of units that they possess and not to mention the slightly more detailed graphics.

The only that makes it well different was that HOMM4 has Heroes with a lot of special attributes and capabilities than the heroes in W3. More over, only that HOMM4 has a very limited moves. Like when you move your hero, there are limitation and when your move is over, you have to click on the clock to get your next round. You can get a skill (Pathfinding) to longer your moves on the adventure map as well.
Unlike W3, they have unlimited moves. But it depends of what character you choose. They may walk or run, more realistic like, until they reach to their destination. The AI (artificial intelligent) in the game though are a bit difficult. If a character can't get itself into a specific destination, they would go round or even stop on the spot. By that time, you could have lost it and it would be a double task to find where they are.
I prefer HOMM3 the best. During a battle, troops are all well in formation. Easy to look at. Unlike W3, you could see troops are all over the place.
No doubt, HOMM series and W3 have certain weaknesses as well. I feel getting WoW because it has a lot of new features than W3. I would probably move on to WoW as soon as it is out

DJ, I know you like RPG's and a new game is out today in Europe, it's called Sacred and is like a 3d version of Diablo II, oh man it's cool! .
WoW looks to be promising, but if the recent events show it's timeline, it looks to be released some time next year. I can wait, and when it comes out it's going to be something to see.
HoMM 5, that'll be cool, I wonder if they will add a 3d element that's long needed for it? We'll see .

I have loved the HOMM since the first game and I have all versions and all expansions. I hope they opt for the HOMM3 style of battle rather than 4 (where the general doesnt fight). Fully 3d graphics will also be cool.
I hope they dont remove too much of the rpg elements as it was cool walking around collecting artifacts to boost your hero.
I will be waiting for this one and in the mean time I think I will give 3 a blast again.

Can't the "general" cast spells?
Heroes of Might and Magic is a turn-based strategy game, unlike real-time. Yeah, it's true, that you only see one hero walk around, while the troops are only visible through battle. I like the backgrounds and castle seiges the best, especially the different skills. I personally invest in Fire Magic and Logistics, and maybe Earth Magic now and then.
Another great thing about HOMM is the huge amount of units and artifacts.

In HOMM4, a Chaos spells has a spell called "Magic Arrow". And in Order spells has a spell called a "Flying Fist". Basically these spells here are the same. Its just that it spelled differently. Same goes to Stone Skin and Spiritual Armor. It never bothered me though. It's just look nice
Yes, that is why I prefer HOMM3. You know, when my general reaches up to somewhere level 25+, I thought myself "why do I have bring along my troops? I can handle with the enemy alone". So I left all my troops at my castle and the general wonder off alone through the entire map and completed all task. Creatures doesn't take any experiences.
Bringing your general alone feels more like a lone ranger and hero-like. Yet, you can bring your troops along but there are 4 certain disadvantages.
1. Your mobility shorten. Take its toll.
2. Actually, I don't really like to see my level 1-4 creatures getting killed in combat!
3. Well maybe, I just like to be solo
4. So that you don't to waste your time protecting your troops.
One advantage to bring your troops along was that it provides support. Plus, neutral enemies will be devided into 3-4 (e.g. if theres 60 genies, then they would come in 20-20-20, depending on the large of your troops).
Todays 3D still looks rather bulky. A cartoon-like probably look good like in HOMM 4. I need some rest now... Too tired of working.

HOMM5 will probably be quite promising, since all the others before it proved themselves very well. the HOMM series is great, but once you've beaten the campains and a few rounds with your friends, it gets kinda boring. I tell you, when HOMM3: AB came out, holy god I was playing that night and day. Fun, but lost it after a bit, no changes really in anything. I'm also more of a fast past gamer, I do indeed love the HOMM series, but I don't like spending 2 hours trying to get to a castle halfway across the map. That's just how I feel about them. Other than that, great games indeed.
