did you set it in the bios? You need to set it to "auto" in the bios.

check your jumpers...you might even want to force detection by jumpering the appropriate drives as master (old drive) & slave (new one).

Check:
1. Is your 2nd hard drive's jumper set to slave?
2. Are all the power and hard drive cables properly connected?
3. Have you tried using your 2nd hard drive as the master? Does it work?
4. Have you tried using new cables instead?
5. Is your second hard drive old as in very very old?

Chances are it maybe a problem with your jumpers or cable connection. Or maybe your hard drive has lost its low level format which is necessary for the motherboard to read it.

Hope that helped

if the slave drive is by its self it will show, if the master is by its self it will show, if there together the slave wont show, the cables and jumpers are good,

yep..almost HAS to be jumpers....some have a setting for SINGLE..but then a different setting for MASTER...or some have stuff like "master /no slave present" (which seems to be the same as single)

or try em both on cable select.
