Media New Wireless Keyboard and Optical Mouse

I just lowered the Microsoft Flag on my "Jolly Roger" (my computer's name). For the 1st time, I'm not using a Microsoft Mouse and keyboard. My keyboard took a dive last night when my underdesk keyboard drawer detached itself. Something must have gone wrong inside, because it just didn't work right anymore. It was also over 4 years old.

Anyway, it gave me a good excuse to get a keyboard that matched my new Super X-Alien Silver & Black case. Best Buy had a good price on the Logitech Wireless Keyboard & Mouse combo, so I bought it. So far, so good. The keyboard has a slightly different feel (I'm a touch typest), but I'm getting use to it already. The mouse is just fine, and I never thought I could say that about a non Microsoft mouse The black & silver color looks cool with my new case. My ViewSonic monitor is silver & black too, so I'm now totally switched over from beige. Too bad I'm not an Oakland Raiders fan

Robert

PS

I couldn't find anything in the docs, but does anyone have an idea how long the batteries last? Logitech provided 4 AA DuraCell Akaline batteries. I always keep a supply of them in the house. I'm just curious. 2 months, 3 months? I use my computer a LOT. Any long time wireless users out there?

mouse batteries will go bad faster then the KB's. I have the elite duo and use rechargable Energizer NiMH 2100mAh batteries in the keyboard and mouse.

Thanks Guys. I keep a lot of AAs around for my kids, for their CD & MP3 players, plus the Gameboy I never had luck with them and rechargables, but I think I'll invest again in a battery charger for my mouse & keyboard. Cheaper in the long run, and better for the environment.

I have the Logitech Cordless Elite Duo. I love it. Although I wish there was a way I could get the mouse that had the cradle to recharge the batteries. But oh well. Good choice.

I bought a second pair of rechargeable batteries for my mx duo and just swap them from the mouse to the keyboard every once in a while. The cradle does the charging for both pieces

When I used a wireless mouse, the battery lasted me ~3-4 months (I have a MX310 now, much better than the 500, and the 700 IMHO, i'll explain why).

310 - 36.99 CND, same technology as the -500 and -700, same general shape, just lacking two buttons, the scroll buttons. Ooooo, I'm not going to use the scrool wheel, I'm going to use the BUTTONS! I'm lazy, so instead of rotating the wheel, I'll press the button (which probably requires more enegry anyways)!

MX500 - 2 extra buttons for 69.99 CND?

MX700 - Wireless, but slower communicating, for 89.99? The fact that I will eventully have to buy batteries also puts me off.

If I wanted to use a wireless mouse, I'd build an entertainment system, but then I'd just use that Gyratron mouse the senses movements in the air .
