when do we draw the line from newbie to "power user" ?

just wondering... i've been using linux for almost a complete year.

my question is... what am i now?

do you classify me by how much i know, or by how much experience i've acquired?. or both...... point is that i dont like to be called a "linux no nothing"

My dad has used Windows XP for browsing the Internet and playing games for nearly two years now but I'd certainly say he's still a novice. In fact, he doesn't have a clue about the operating system and how it works. So, basically, what I'm trying to say is, is that it doesn't matter how much time you've spent using an OS, it's how much you've learnt about it really.

If you think you know everything there is to know about Linux then you're probably an advanced user of that particular OS. That is, of course, if you do know everything about it.

it doesnt matter how long you have been working with a computer because you can always learn something new you never knew.

yes i agree, but also..... have you noticed taht some websites refer to linux newbies as "know-nothings"

i mean, there has to be some kind of category in this...

like.... newbie..... normal.... advanced... super, Poweruser (expert and so on)

I don't know but it's a pointless discussion really. You are what you are. A title's only a title.

You put yourself into whichever category suits you best. It will make no difference.

dont listen to those people who call you "know nothings". some linux geeks think there above windows users because they know there way around linux. in the end its just an operating system, everyone is learning and there is no reason to have a title for someone.

Personally i just ignore those people. when it comes to computer you should share your knowledge and listen to others. Not call them names because they dont know something.

there shouldnt be a line, but there is always those people who say im smarter than you are

be mature and say who cares where i am to those people, im still learning.

yeah everybody is knowledgeable in different waysif you know your way around it your not really a newbie then there is a BIG line between that and knowing everything
