COnverting a 423 MOBo to work with 478 CPU

Has anyone used a CPU converter to use a Socket 478 CPU on a socket 423 MoBo? I am putting together a computer that has a 423 MOBO and a 478 CPU. THese were parts that I received and I want to put it together. I bought a CPU converter to do this but havent received it yet. Just wanted to know other peoples experience with this. Thanx

I have never tried them but I have heart mixed stories regarding voltage requirements. It would be safe to assume that it MIGHT work. Notice I said Might.

I have converted 2 boards.....both work great! But it doesnt work on some Boards.

Heres 2 links that may help out:

A Basic Guide:

http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/2002...apters-03.html

Compatibility Chart of Boards that have been tried:

http://www.upgradeware.com/english/p...patibility.htm

If your board isnt listed....just email them....they may be able to help you out.

here is the adapter

http://www.strattoncomputer.com/soc478tosoc4.html

at the bottom of that page are some links...one of them is for compatability. Also note of you have an intel D850GB or a Dell Dimension8100 that they have different adapters for those...here http://www.strattoncomputer.com/cpuconverters.html

I have ordered from stratton comps before, I got some socket 370 Tualatin adapters and they worked great

I've got a TH7-RAID that is S423 and I'm using an S478 on it. I'm not to happy w/ the fact that I had to disable the SoftMenuII feature in order to get it to work. You might wanna do some digging and make sure you don't have to do anything like that as well.
