Can't Connect to Internet Using Modem Error 630

Yesterday I was at my friends grandpa's house. He asked me if their was a way to turn the sound off when you connected to the internet. I just added L0MO. I didn't think to test it. Now he called me today and he was getting error 630 when he connected. I relized it was L0M0 so i walked him through to put that in. He tried to connect and the same thing. So I told him to just erase it. He did and then same error and went back to the initiative commands and still had the L0MO that reset itself. I really need some help on this.

Those links really don't help. I need to figure out why whne i type something in the initiative string that it won't save just reset itself back to the older one.
