CompUSA 3 Yr Laptop Warentee -ANY GOOD ?

I just got a 3 Year Technical Assistence Program (TAP) CompUSA Warrentee at extra co$t.
Suppposedly the Laptop can be walked in to any ComPUSA in the States--and fixed without cost. For three years.

Anybody have their warrentee --or knows someone who did?
Is it any good: timely repairs with short turn-around time by Techs who know what they are doing ?

DOOG made the plunge. And wants to know.

ADDENDUM --
Usually I wouldn't touch any extra-cost "extended service warrentee. especially when it cmes to electronics--where there is either "infantile failure", or it lasts.

They are over priced, the reairs use old part that have depreciated in value over time, and a 3 Yr time period overlaps the one year of the Manufactures Warrentee.

There is a saying, "Insure the big stuff."

But I figured a Laptop Computer is diffrent, because it cannot often be self-fixed, parts to the end-user are expensive--or unavailable.

From one dooggy to another doog:

I am a Tech at CompUSA. I have seen how the "Technology Assurance Program" works. If you look back into the Tech Shop you will see that it is the BIGGEST moneymaker for CompUSA. Why? because electronics break down...frequently. That is why they push so hard...it DOES benefit both parties. I hope your salesperson let you know that during the 1st year the lappy will be shipped to mfg <Toshiba?> under mfg warranty...after that it will be repaired in store. Did you get the service plan that covers screen damage and battery replacement? If lappy is in brought in for the same problem 3-4 times they will replace.

If there is anything specific you want to know...just ask.

Hope you enjoy your new "toy".

Really was concerned about "turn-around" time.

Hate to e told "Your Lappy will be redy in .err..3 - 6 weeks

Figured Toshiba service --which is in Turkey I've read -would take to long.

Also I used buying the TAP as a bargaining chip to get better price. Figure bigger Salesperson commission on "added features".

Was also told it would be honored in ANY CompUSA in US..a BIG Plus ! Unless another CompUSa figures that the guys who sold it to you should fix it -the psychology behind car warrentees..
