Adelphia Throttling Me & Bit Torrent Downloads?

So, either Bit Torrent is taking a 2000kb/s overhead to DL two files at 5-20k/s, or Adelphia is detecting it and throttling me.

I'm betting that I'm being throttled. I pause all my downloads and do a bandwidth test and get like 20kb/s speeds. A minute later I get 460kb/s speeds, then another couple minutes later and I'm getting over 2000kb/s.

Does Adelphia actually do that? Do you have any d/l caps (GB per month or anything like that)?

Maybe you're getting packetloss. Have you done the tweak test at DSLReports?

I have heard of Adelphia doing crazy things but here is the thing about bittorent from what I understand. When you download stuff you also become a node for others to download whatever you are downloading, that is how the files get spread. Multiple people connecting to your connecting trying to leech different parts of the file will kill most connections fast. What type of client are you using for torrent? Does it allow you to control these things?

I just talked to a friend who also has Adelphia. He said they simply suck, overload their nodes and cap their users and they are dying. His downloads are like yours... start out fast like they should then drop down to a few K a second then he gets disconnected.

Adelphia does not cap users on the amount of data you download, however immense routing issues are present in OH/VA/MD/PA and other locations which won't seem to get fixed. One of the biggest problems lies within' the 68.168.17.109 & 68.168.17.110 routers, pushing latency numbers up to 200+ before even hitting the backbones.

I suggest you read http://www.dslreports.com/forum/adelphia on current Adelphia issues and switch ASAP if possible - Did you know they're bankrupt?
