Mobo dead?

I was working on a friends computer today that was really crummily built - some exposed wiring (by which I mean, exposed!) and stuff like that. After putting everything back together, I attempted to boot up the machine. It got to the BIOS prompt and then shut off without warning. I smelled something burning inside, opened it up, and removed all the offending wiring.

Now, the board won't POST, no matter what I do. I have removed all the hardware, even the processor, and nothing happens, no beep codes, nothing. I think that if the board were still good then it would at least scream bloody murder if the RAM and proc were yanked.

It is a Giga-Byte GA-7VA version 1.0

Any input?

look for the part which was burned... locate it everywhere in the board and PSU.. just to make sure before throwing everything in the trash can..
