IE Link Problem

When I open IE and browse to a site, it's normally fine. If I use a hyperlink on that site, especially ones that are on a different domain, the whole window hangs.

Example: when I go to my browser based email and open an HTML attachment the window freezes.

Windows XP Pro
No updates installed yet from WU.
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
512 MB Ram

Any assistance? I've never had this problem.

Thanks

You may have a spyware program that has added its own Hosts file. Do you have any "protection" between you and the 'net (i.e., AV, firewall, spyware-cleaners, etc.)?

Install Ad-Aware and/or Spy-Bot and check your system for spyware.

Another thought... who is your ISP, and are you pointing to the proper DNS servers? Are you on cable, DSL or dial-up?

Yes I go through a router and I have zone alarm also.

I am with Bellsouth and have DSL service. I think I may have fixed it - I had the warpigs virus that auto looks for a tskmg.exe file every time at startup. Slows down everything.

Thanks for the thoughts.
