FACT or FICTION?

Well im in a little predicament here....i find something very hard to

believe. a friend of mine who is a pretty computer-savvy guy told

me when advising me on what video card to get that ATI chipsets

do not work with some games.....i find this VERY hard to

believe...but if anyone has had experience with this type of thing

please post

P.S. i did go with a GeForce 4 Ti4200 w/ 64 mb

Hmm, that's a broad, sweeping statement, that - and about as blatantly untrue as you can get.

But having said that, ATI chipsets sometimes struggle with games that have been optomised for nVidia code. There was an article recently here about a new game coming out that should be better on ATI chipsets, that also had comments about why various games run better on different cards. I'll see if I can find it.

Sometimes the things we hear from so-called "experts" cannnot always be swallowed whole.

edit: Ok, found the article about HalfLife2 by tony_j15. Lots of stuff about ATI vs nVidia chipsets in there.

Back in the day, ATI did have driver issues. Now, their drivers are just as good as nVidia's, so the real problem is when a game developer goes overboard optimizing for a certain chipset. Your friend is wrong in his statement. The correct way to put it is: certain games work better with certain graphics cards.
