dual layer dvd burners

I was planning on getting a dvd dual format but decided to wait until the dual layer format came out to get one. A few questions does any one know if they will be able to burn single layer format for like data and what not. Also is there going to be two formats or one. thanks

I think you may be waiting awhile for a dual layer DVD burner. And if they do come out you won't want to pay what their asking.

Interesting......must resist the urge to upgrade until the HD DVD comes out.

All depends on what you want to burn with your DVD.. with a LG DVD burner you can burn up to 4.6 GB of data.. and that's quite a bit... even if dual layer DVD burners ship I doubt you will see blanks of Dual DVD's out very soon.. or else they will be very expensive...

Describe "perfect!"

Its a never ending SEA of hardware and software.. nothing is ever perfect. Its just "good" for the time being. That's the good/bad thing about technology.. always something new on the horizon.

I can't even find reasonably priced 8x DVD-R's yet. Hate to see what dual layers will cost.

no kidding... its bad enough just for a 4x dvd+r or -r... about 1.50 per disc if you find a good deal.
