Help with DSL networking thingy (long story)

I'm not a computer wizz but I had my networking thingy goin pretty good for a couple of months. Then this saturday I was playing SOCOM II online on my PS2 and it drops me and I couldn't connect. Then I go on all my other computers and I couldn't connect on those either. I thought it was the router at first but then I checked the computers and it said that the router's signal was at 11.0 Mbps. So I thought it was my modem. I checked and connected it straight on my laptop and that was working just fine. When I connected the modem back to the router the whole network came back online. Then later that afternoon the DSL went down again. This time my friend was playing SOCOM II online. So I took the ethernet cable from the PS2's network adapter and I connected it straight on to the modem and everything started working again. So I couldn't just have everything else down besides the PS2 so after my friend left I connected everything back together and nothing was working again. So I called the DSL company and they told me to power cycle my modem. I did so and it started working again for a day at least. No troubles on Sunday but on Monday I was playing SOCOM II again and the DSL went down again. I probalbly spent an hour talking to the DSL company about trying to fix the problem. The sent something to see if the modem was broken and they said the modem was running 2 way traffic so it couldn't be. Also the ethernet light on the modem is always on even if the DSL is down. So I don't know what I did but after an hour or so of talking to the DSL company we finally got it to work again. Today when I was playing SOCOM II it could never connect to the internet. The funny thing was that I was just online on the laptop maybe 2 minutes ago. So then I checked my computer and the DSL was down again. So I took the PS2's ethernet cable again and hooked it up directly to the modem and low and behold it connected again. After connecting to SOCOM II I reconnected the modem to the router using the original ethernet cable and everything is up and running again. Now I am really puzzled at this problem I am having. It seems that my DSL service started getting allergic to SOCOM II or something because all the times the DSL has been down I have been playing SOCOM II. I have come to the following solution: the ethernet cable connecting my modem to the router is somehow flawed and cannot send and recieve large packets of information like sent and recieved when playing video games online. Can I get some help on what you tech wizzes think is happening? My network is like this: The DSL modem is connected to my linksys broadband router which is in turn connected to the downstairs desktop and PS2 directly via ethernet cables. There are also 2 wireless notebook adapters for my 2 laptops. Anyways thanks for taking the time to read this long post and please tell me what you guys think is happening and what to do.
