Far Cry DEMO.... Performance Issues? I Think So...

Last night I downloaded my copy of the Far Cry demo, and I must say that although the game itself seems pretty good, it seems to suffer performace issues.

First, here's my specs:

AMD Athlon XP 3200+
512 DDR ram
Radeon 9800 Pro

Anyways, yeah, this game just chugs along on my good computer. I have to have all the settings set to 'Medium' and the resolution set to 1024x768 in order to play it without ungodly low fps.

Any game, and I mean ANY game I play I can have set to MAX settings and never suffer any stagger. With this game, I mean, wow... Such low fps.

I understand that it's a demo, so maybe it'll be cleared up in the future, but man... I just wanna play this with the same quality I always see in the screenshots.

Anyways play this? And, anyone suffer performace issues?

Playing the demo was fine for me with all but 1 or 2 things on the highest setting,

P4 3.2Ghz HT
1GB RAM DDR Dual Channel
9700 Pro 128MB @ 1280x1024

Everything looks so clear and realistic, it's going to be an amazing game.

My brothers 8500LE could bairly push out 2fps hehe, he's thinking of upgradeing 2 a 9600XT

On my 2.8 P4, 1 gig PC2700, ATI 9700 pro machine everything max and it runs great.

I also installed it on my sons 2.53 P4 533mhz fsb, 512meg pc 2100, GeForce 4600 with settings at "Medium" and it runs good. It has a hard time after playing it for a while, but on this machine its understandable. Both are running at 1024x768.


I'm guessing your running DX 9. It's a big issue with the demo.
