Gunshot Virus

Has anyone ever heard of a virus that randomly plays a loud gunshot sound file? My cousin came back from break to her college machine and now from time to time it does this. She said it makes a loud "gun-cocking" sound then BLAM.

I feel bad for her, though it did happen once while she was in another part of her apartment and her speakers were left up loud, she said she hit the deck and thought someone was shooting at her I had to laugh.

She lives about 8 hours aaway from me so getting a hands on at hert system really isn't an option. But I don'ty know if this is a virus, trojan, spyware? Any ideas?

Could be a prank too.
Have her check task manager and add/remove programs for anything new. There used to be quite a few of those floating around. There was even one called "the flatulor" I ran into on a machine about a year ago. There was also one that would randomly turn the screen upside down. Used to be all sorts of them.

Just a thought.

Ground,

I know that yes she does run AIM, I will drop her an email with adaware and spybot and have her install them and run them.

Crystal,

She is a smart girl, but I don't know if she is computer savvy enough to look at the programs list and know if any of them would be bad. Thought the Add New Programs might be an idea to run by her.

I don't use AIM so I didn't know about that GZ3. thanks
Heck, I've got almost every "sound effect" on this computer turned off just because they can be so annoying!!
