Email Question

Hi ya'll, i got a pretty general question about email.

Why is it that our business emails get emails that don't pertain to business. They appear to be spam perhaps? However its not that its spam that is bugging me what bugs me is this.

The emails appear not to be for us. Tehy have the from field from whomever but the to feild shows either the person who sent it and/or some other address and not any of our own addresses. How is it that it comes to me and not to the person address in the to field?

This happens about once every few days or so, getting emails that don't apper to be us. i will not open the attachments attached and always do a Shift Delete on them.

Anyways any ideas on this to field that bugs me.

TIA

it may be that your e-mail address is cc/bcc
did you checked the properties of the emails?

Yes properties show couple things.

one up top a: envelope to: then our business email address then later on in the properties shows our email address again. and the from shows 1 with an isp address, later from an HeLo SpOoKy and then later from the same address that I see when in normal email mode.

I typicall delete them but i am wondering how they are getting them unless they are using some sort of browser email hijacker where it scans all the web pages out there and just harvestest emails. I presume that is possible.

One thing that viruses do, is they search through an inbox looking for victims.
Its possible you've sent emails to somebody that is infected, the virus found it and is now sending you (and others) emails in response.

Its a possibility... only thing I can think of at the moment.

OE, and world merge.

I think maybe vass hit it more. I send out newsletters every month and then our weekly subsciber specials every week, so its quite possible that Vass hit the nail. NIS does a good job catching anything that is considered spam and/or viruses. Few had attachments to them and i did not open them as it was unrelated to business and i can tell that just from the subject header so far for now. So its quite possible that I have sent a newletter to someone who has a virus and grabbed our name.
