Linux On Xbox

Hey everyone,

I've been doing some research for a friend of mine on the best way to get Linux on his Xbox. Most of what I've found seem to detail installing Linux to the hard drive in the system. This seems to prevent Xbox Live from working, however, which is something my friend is into in a big way.

My question is, is there any group producing a distro which can simply be booted, without any data being written to the hard drive? Something like Damn Small Linux perhapes, just written for the Xbox? It seems to me that the majority of people who would want to use linux on Xbox would just want it to surf the web, and maybe use it as an MP3 player over their home stereo. Something like DSL would easily be able to accomplish this.

Any input would be appreciated!

Joe F.
